Wow. Terminator Salvation is bad. No. Not bad. Bloody awful. It’s like having your eyeballs sanded by supermodels whose level of conversation never reach above blowing reverse pink bubbles. Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to let this person, the same guy who has a hand in The O.C. (let’s all pause to shudder dramatically) have a go at something as supposedly darkntwisty as yet another post apocalyptic “I’ll be back”* installment? The sugar rush style which worked in Charlie’s Angels do not, I repeat NOT, work here.

Poor CC, whom I dragged out of his ear infection sickbed, suffered through it too. At the tinman heart scene we both started laughing. The supporting actor, Sam Worthington, doesn’t do too bad a job considering the gag-me-with-a-sugar-stick role he got but Christian Bale as John Connor has about as much depth as a tortured squirrel/emo Hamlet.

I wish I had seen it earlier though, then CC could have joined me for one of the other two movies which were really very good. Sigh :(. He is such a complete sweetheart and him and Meghan gave me a ride home. I have no problem with her dating Carlo. She and he have enough in common, there is afterall something to be said for black leather interiors**.

I have to make it up to him. It is so weird. Our online conversations flow and are witty and engaging but somehow when we hang out it takes quite a while before it kicks in. Almost an awkwardness and it doesn’t help that we are both ridiculously polite. Oh well. At least he doesn’t point and laugh when I find my own verbose nonsense funny…mostly. He is just the coolest person. He’s funny to the point where I fall off my chair..literally.., he’s sweet and he is just the right kind of strange. And then add to that, he’s willing, even when he feels really sick, to hang out with a friend. Yeah. I’ll make it up to him.

*Which he have poor gravelly voiced Christian Bale say. No kidding.
**Yes. They are cars but they are more than cars to us.

I love cinema. I especially love SciFi and Fantasy and when I’m presented with a day like today, where I can overload on awesome, I jump at the chance.

Movie 1: Star Trek 11

O wow. I am in love with young Spock. Ok I was in love with old Spock way back when anyway but to now have the young, delicious version thereof who is all barely-subdued-passion and hot, hot logic…weeeell. Let’s just say I will be signing “Live long and prosper” for a while, mooning like the lurve struck fool I am. Dammit that man is beautiful. I loved him as Sylar but this../sigh…/pine.

I sincerely hope they continue in this vein. It was an awesome movie. I have seen all the ST movies (yes, I am that much of a geek) a few times over and this is honestly my favourite. Beautifully shot, well directed and seamless. Reminds me of proper SciFi books. Unlike Star Wars which is frankly, crap. Yeah. I said it. CRAP. Of all the kick ass scifi stories in print George Gazillionaire Lucas takes stereotypes** and adds a little I-have-the-hots-for-my-sister for geek level frisson and that bloody makes people dress up like the mouth breathers they are and cue for hours for tickets for fanboy conventions.

Star Trek however, has (other than this new movie which is the sexed up version of ST) Patrick Stewart. ‘Nough said.

Movie 2: Wolverine

Other than Hugh Jackman being the second most beautiful man alive* I love that the franchise is continuing. Liev Schreiber is AWESOME. Utterly believable and feral. Hugh, darling Hugh, is still his lovely snarling teddy bear self but this guy is nothing other than magnificent. You do not doubt his performance for a second. Ryan Reynolds…dear lord. I don’t think there is a man with a better body alive. Not kidding. Not so happy about what evil bastard colonel does to him at the end there. His brand of comedy*** is the best thing about him.

And now, or at least soon, for Christian “I’m Batman” Bale in the new Terminator movie. I didn’t like the other ones but then again till he came along I didn’t like the Batman’s either. Equilibrium remains one of the coolest movies of all time. Those gun katas…anyhoo.

Be good y’all.

*Yes, no one has yet dethroned James McAvoy although Zachary Quinto is *drools incoherently*…anyway..where was I…
** Ok, archetypes but still.
*** Even as far back as 2 Guys a Girl and a pizza place and especially memorable in Blade 3…oh oh oh that tattoo scene,
