Of calcium and reality shows
Today I have 2 meetings, one with the napalmed-evolution-proposal woman who wants “her website partners” to have an “exploratory” meeting. She makes me want to grind my teeth until I choke on the fine calcium grit. Basically I have to meet with the people who set up their website. I proposed to completely regenerate the site (hence your contribution of the definition of a blueprint/prototype). Something sounding marine yet? What on earth she expects us to say to one another is beyond me but sure, I’ll drive to Midrand for this farce. The carrot is becoming less and less desirable and I am foreseeing imminent balking.
I watched a bit of Last Comic Standing last night and considering that those guys had 3 minutes to do their routines most of them were really very good. Now this is where the sucky part comes in: the judges and studio audience chose the weakest/weirdest of the lot. Americans are strange. I think they are the most intellectually polarised society on earth and the most socially cruelandtwisty. After announcing the 5 people who get to go through, they show the abject despair of the remaining comics and THEN raise their hopes by saying that there will be another 2 chosen. I think if I had turned up the sound I would have heard the sound of 26 collarbones snapping under the pressure of disappointment. Man. I had tears in my eyes for those poor people. One of the judges asked a comic why she wanted to be a stand up and she replied “I guess it is because I hate myself”. /shudder
I’m doing the Greek thing :). It will be once a month and it will almost certainly interfere with the 1 Samuel class with LB but even though she twitched a little at the idea I think she sees how awesome it will be for me. The more I read the more I see how (in all reverence) clumsy the English translations sometimes seem. Being able to read the Greek, o eventually, I think will be mind blowing. Seriously! John 11:11 -…”Our friend Lazarus…” friend vs. philos – Strong’s #5384: Compare “philosophy”, “philology”, and “philharmonic”. An adjective used as a noun, denoting a loved one, beloved, affectionate friend. The verb is phileo, which describes a love of emotion and friendship. Philos thus has a congeniality about it.*
Because I am a sad, sad masochist I have been listening to a lot of “Where the light is”. Granted, I listened the wax out of it before the Berg but since then I’d been avoiding it. I am proud to say that “In your atmosphere” no longer reduces me to bitter, self pitying tears and a great urge to cradle burn-cold vodka. I can however not say the same for “Freefallin”. Damn you. I love that song and I don’t even have your words.
1. Words of the day: philos and perissos Strong’s #4053: Superabundance, excessive, overflowing, surplus, over and above, more than enough, profuse, extraordinary, above the ordinary, more than sufficient”*
2. Insight of the day: When your 20 month old starts grinding his teeth you know you might need new anger management techniques
3. State of the pool: whirling frosty mist

5. Awesomest line: I’ve done this one before but it keeps coming back to me. Strangely enough more now than ever –
i like my body when it is with your
body. It is so quite new a thing.
Muscles better and nerves more.
i like your body. i like what it does,
i like its hows. i like to feel the spine
of your body and its bones, and the trembling
-firm-smooth ness and which i will
again and again and again
kiss, i like kissing this and that of you,
i like, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz
of your electric fur, and what-is-it comes
over parting flesh . . . . And eyes big love-crumbs,
and possibly i like the thrill
of under me you so quite new

6. Scripture line: John 10:10 – “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly”…
